In Ukraine, Zaporizhstal steel output in April will cut 34.5%, to 223,300 tons. Decline was due to poor No. 2 and No. 5 blast furnace maintenance and market conditions.
Russia’s largest steel production and mining company, Evraz, reported total sales of steel products increased 2.9% year-on-year, but decreased 10.4% month-on-month. Sales of semi-finished products rose 7.6%, but compared with the previous quarter, down 15.3%.
According to the Japanese Ministry of Economy, March crude steel production in Japan declined compared with the same period last year by 12.5 percent to 795 million tons.
In the United States, Freedom Steel Group will be shut down for at least three months as the coronavirus pandemic reduces demand for its products.
According to the World Steel Association, March 2020, world crude steel production fell by 6% year on year, to reach 147.1 million tons.
