According to EN 10346, numbers are used to specify the thickness of the zinc coating for hot-dip galvanized products. Here Z refers to zinc and the number refers to the weight of the galvanised layer. For example, Z275 means that the weight of zinc on both sides of the steel surface is 275 grams per square meter. At the same time, Z140 or Z14 is commonly used to describe a 140g/m2 zinc coating weight. In addition, the higher the number, the thicker the zinc coating.
There are some commonly used codes, such as DX51D+Z275. You can find the codes on the packaging of steel coils or sheets.
DX51D+Z275 is the name of the hot-dip galvanized steel according to the European standard. The first letter "D" denotes flat steel for cold forming, and "X" here denotes a rolled condition without specifying the base material. If the letter C is used, the substrate is specified as cold rolled; if the letter D is used, the substrate is specified as hot rolled. The numbers (51, 52, 53, 54, etc.) indicate the serial number of the steel grade, with "51" being for general use. The "D" after the number indicates hot dip galvanizing. Z275 means that the thickness of the galvanized layer is 275 g/m2. In addition to zinc plating, you can also find aluminium-zinc (AZ) and ZAM coatings.

Zinc coating, specifically in the form of Z275g galvanized steel coil and sheet, offers a range of valuable uses in various applications due to its corrosion-resistant properties. Here are six common uses:
1. Construction and Building Materials:
- Zinc-coated steel is widely used in the construction industry for manufacturing roofing, siding, and structural components. The corrosion resistance of zinc helps protect the steel from environmental elements, extending the lifespan of the structures.
2. Automotive Manufacturing:
- Galvanized steel is utilized in the automotive sector for producing parts such as body panels, frames, and other components. The zinc coating provides a durable barrier against rust and corrosion, enhancing the longevity of automotive parts.
3. Electrical Appliances:
- Zinc-coated steel is employed in the manufacturing of electrical appliances like washing machines, refrigerators, and air conditioners. The corrosion resistance of the zinc layer helps protect these appliances from the effects of moisture and other environmental factors.
4. Agricultural Equipment:
- Farm equipment, such as tractors, trailers, and storage tanks, often use zinc-coated steel. The galvanized coating helps prevent rust and corrosion caused by exposure to agricultural environments, including moisture and various chemicals.
5. Infrastructure and Transportation:
- Zinc-coated steel finds application in infrastructure projects, including bridges, highway guardrails, and utility poles. The corrosion resistance of the coating contributes to the structural integrity of these elements, ensuring a longer service life.
6. Household and Industrial Piping:
- Zinc-coated steel is commonly used for manufacturing pipes and tubing in both residential and industrial settings. The protective zinc layer helps prevent corrosion and extends the life of the piping, making it a reliable choice for fluid transport systems.
In summary, the Z275g galvanized steel coil and sheet, with its zinc coating, serves as a crucial material in various industries, providing corrosion resistance and durability in applications ranging from construction to automotive manufacturing.
