Aluminum Zinc Roll is a carbon steel plate which is continuously hot-dipped with an aluminum-zinc alloy. The nominal coating composition is 55% aluminum and 45% zinc. The coated alloy contains small but important silicon. It is not added to improve corrosion performance, but to provide good coating adhesion to the steel substrate during roll forming, drawing or bending of the product during manufacture.

Aluminum Zinc Roll combine the superior barrier corrosion protection of aluminum with the galvanizing protection of zinc. The result is a durable coating,
a coating that provides cutting edge protection along the shear edge, and therefore a coating that provides excellent protection for the steel sheet.
With a few exceptions, Aluminum Zinc Roll is the preferred product for long-term atmospheric corrosion resistance for most applications in most environments.
It is more durable than galvanized coatings of the same thickness and provides cutting edge protection that is not possible with aluminum coatings.
This cutting edge protection means less rust at the edges of the cut, scratches and other defects in the coating. In addition, since the coating is so resistant to corrosion,
it retains a very bright surface appearance when exposed to most atmospheres. These properties make Aluminum Zinc Roll the material of choice for roofing.

Aluminum Zinc Roll provides excellent corrosion resistance through the presence of microscopic zinc-rich and aluminum-rich zones within the coating.
Areas rich in aluminum corrode very slowly, providing long-term durability, while areas rich in zinc (preferred corrosion) provide current protection.
